Grids Based on Publication Date

With Mooberry Book Manager, you’ve already been able to create grids based on if a book was published or coming soon.  MBM Advanced Grids adds several more options for creating grids based on publication date.

If you edit a book grid or create a new one, you’ll see there is a new option in the Books to Display drop down: Select By Release Date
Keep in mind, this feature works off the  Release Date you entered in your book’s information. It’s not about when you added it to your website – it’s about when it was  published.

Choosing this option opens up a new drop down with more options:
  • Today
    • This will show any books that have a Release Date equal to the day the user views the grid
    • EXAMPLE: Today’s New Releases
  • This Week
    • This uses your Wordpress setting of first day of the week, and creates a range from that previous day to the next 7 days, and selects books that have a Release Date in that range
    • EXAMPLE: What’s New This Week
  • This Month
    • This creates a range from the 1st day of the current month until the day the user views the grid, and selects books that have a Release Date in that range
    • EXAMPLE: What’s New This Month
  • This Quarter
    • This creates a range from either Jan 1, Apr 1, Jul 1, or Oct 1 of the current year (which ever is closest) until the current day, and selects books that have a Release Date in that range
    • EXAMPLE: This Quarter’s New Releases
  • This Year
    • This creates a range from Jan 1 of the current year to the current day, and selects books that have a Release Date in that range
    • EXAMPLE: Books of 2021
  • Since Specific Date
    • For this option, you will choose a date in the past, and any book with a Release Date between that date and the current day will be selected
    • EXAMPLE: Books Since The World Shut Down
  • In the Last X Days
    • For this option, you will enter a number of days, and any book with a Release Date between the current day and that many days ago will be selected
    • EXAMPLE:  New Releases In the Last 30 Days
  • Next Week
    • This uses your Wordpress setting of first day of the week, and creates a range from that day next week to the next 7 days, and selects books that have a Release Date in that range
    • EXAMPLE: Next Week’s New Releases
  • Next Month
    • This creates a range from the 1st day of next month until the last day of the month, and selects books that have a Release Date in that range
    • EXAMPLE: Next Month’s New Releases
  • In the Next X Days
    • For this option, you will enter a number of days, and any book with a Release Date between the current day and that many days in the future will be selected
    • EXAMPLE: What’s Coming in the Next 30 Days
These options allow you to create powerful grids that are always up to date, because they always select books relative to the current date.  When setting up a grid, “Today” doesn’t mean the day you set up the grid. It means the day the user is viewing the grid.  “Next Month” will change every month. On March 31, “Next Month” is April.  On April 1, it’s May. 
This is the power behind Mooberry Book Manager’s book grids: they are dynamically created so they are always up to date and you never have to manually add books to them.
