Retailers Settings

The Retailers Settings Page is used to add the retailers who sell your books. Several come pre-installed with Mooberry Book Manager, but you can add more if needed. The names on this tab will be used to populate the Retailers drop down list in the Retail Links section on the Edit Book Page. See Adding Books.

Retailer Buttons

NOTE: Retailer Buttons were added in version 4.12. If you upgraded from a previous version, your settings for retailers were preserved and not changed.

Retailer buttons display on your book page to link your reader to purchase your book.  There are a few different ways you can set up your retailer buttons:

  • Use Matching Buttons for All Retailers
    • This will allow you to choose one button color for all retailers
    • The text of the button will be the name set for each retailer (see below)
  • Use Individual Buttons for Each Retailer
    • This will allow you to set different buttons for each retailer
    • For each retailer you will have the choice to:
      • Set the button color
        • The text of the button will be the name of the retailer (see below)
      • Use an image for the button

Using Matching Buttons for All Retailers

If you choose to use matching buttons for all retailers, you can set the background color of the button as well as the text color. You'll be shown a sample of what the button will look like on your page.

Setting up the Retailers

  • To add a new retailer, click on the Add Retailer button.
  • To delete a retailer, click on the Remove Retailer button in the Retailer box.
  • You can click on the triangle in the purple bar that says “Retailer 1”, “Retailer 2”, etc. to open and close the individual retailer.
  • The Retailer Name is required.
  • The choice between a button or image is required.

Mooberry Book Manager comes pre-installed with logos for each of the retailers it starts with.  You can choose to use the logo, or another image of your choice as shown in the above example.

Or you can choose to use a colored button as shown below. When setting individual buttons, each retailer can be a different color. Or you can use an image with some retailers and buttons with other retailers.

Affiliate Code Information

As of version 3.5, fields for affiliate codes have been added. Mooberry Book Manager has always allowed authors to use their own affiliate codes with their buy links. However, the only way to use affiliate codes was to paste them in for each book. With version 3.5, affiliate codes are now set for retailer.

Affiliate Code

In this field you enter exactly whatever needs to be added to the URL for the retailer to track your sales. This will be the same on all of the book links for this retailer.

For example, Amazon’s code would look something like this:

?tag=<your-affiliate-id>

Affiliate Code Position

Different retailers and affiliate programs use different ways of formatting the links for tracking affiliates. Choose the method your program uses.

If your affiliate links look like this, choose After Book Link:

http://www.retailerwebsite.com/link/to/book/someAffiliateCode

If your affiliate links look like this, choose Before Book Link:

http://www.affiliatewebsite.com/someAffiliateCode/http://www.retailerwebsite.com/link/to/book

(Hint: For Amazon, use After Book Link.)

Once you enter your affiliate codes into the Retailers Settings screen, all of your book links will automatically use any affiliate codes that apply. So, if you entered an affiliate code for Amazon, every book that has an Amazon buy link will use that code in the link.

If You Already Have Affiliate Codes in Your Book Buy Links Before Version 3.5

If you’ve already used affiliate codes in your buy links, you’ll have to decide if you want to switch over to the new system. You can leave your links alone and they will work fine, however, for any new books you add you’ll have to continue putting the affiliate codes into the buy links.

If you’d like to switch to this new system, you’ll have to edit all of your books and remove the affiliate codes from your buy links. However, you only have to do it once. And, after you’ve entered your affiliate codes into the Retailers Settings page, you’ll never have to put an affiliate code in a buy link again.

Keeping the affiliate codes in the buy links AND entering it into the Retailers Settings page could cause your affiliate links to not be tracked correctly and could cause your referral fees to not be credited to your account. That’s why you should choose one or the other method.
